==========

NO ...

I have 64 & 72 Ragtops and 76 79 & 95 Coupes along with a 68 Chevelle SS

396....

Buying a C5 would not serve my purposes at this time...too much money

frankly for what use I would get out of it... Still have one empty bay in

the garage however so maybe sometime in the future... MY primary usage

would be the same as I now use the 95 for... "trips"..

Both my wife and I are retired and we do get away quite a bit.

Two points to consider:

(My 2000 C5 came from a Florida dealer through an Ebay auction)

1. Carfax was not accurate for my car. It indicated no accidents, however

the passenger door skin had a crack where the hinges attach. I didn`t catch

it untill I was 1000 miles away. (Out of site warranty) That repair cost

roughly $2000

2. Florida is a pretty hot place. I`d be concerned with plastic pieces on

the interior "drying up". I know it sounds crazy, you`ll think of me when

you`re looking for a volume control know for your radio on the internet. I

found one. ($10)

You`ll probably have to put new tires on it. Mine were bald at 36,000 when

I bought the car. Not being a car expert, I have no way of knowing what 50%

tread remaing really means. I can tell you that 50% tread on my Goodyear

non-emt tires means they need replacing. Unless you want to get dogged by a

rustang because you can`t hook up.

See through roof panels get crazing on them and peel from the heat. Roughly

$600-700 on Ebay (1100 dealer)

So if I was buying it-- (and at 100,000 miles for 11-12K I would probably

pass) I`d allow about $3000 to bring it "up to speed" also consider those

wheels. The 5 spokes are another $1200 roughly.

Thanks, Stan. It`s academic now. It`s been bid over $14,000 while I`ve

been tracking it, and I`m not willing to go that high for that many miles.

Appreciate the help.

Title: Race the Runway event success
Date: Fri, 25 Sep 2009 08:53:16 +0000
Author: Apollo

Red LamborghiniAlthough it was a closed event and not open to public access, the BBC reports that the Race the Runway event we highlighted recently was a success, with 48 participants each paying £250 for the opportunity to race their supercars along the secondary runway at Edinburgh Airport, with invited guests bringing in a further £50 a head. Cars such as Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins and others were brought to the event, during which the airport continued to operate as normal.

Proceeds from the day will go to St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh and the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.

Together with the runway activity, the day also provided an opportunity for the drivers to undertake a fire simulation exercise, and visit air traffic control.

It will certainly have made a change from the usual sort of track day that takes place on normal race tracks such as Knockhill, as I’m led to believe (since modern, active, commercial airport runways are one place I haven’t managed to get onto) that by comparison with such tracks, runways can be much smoother. One thing is certain, as anyone who’s been round Knockhill will vouch for, they’re certainly flatter!
